The proprietors of the Bald Mountain House are Monica and Tony Martin. Monica, your hostess, has a degree in Geology from the University of Florida and is a graduate of Culinary Arts School; she is a trained chef and former restaurateur. Monica was also a high school science educator, interior decorator, and a retired National/Pan Am flight attendant. Tony has a BS in Accounting and a Master’s in Human Resources, is a mechanical and plumbing contractor, former public education administrator, and a past officer of Rotary International. They are both Master SCUBA Divers and Certified Full Cave Divers. They share their living quarters with their dachshunds Lucia and Siri.
In their free time, Monica and Tony enjoy relaxing atop Big Bald Mountain (elevation 5,516 feet) that overlooks a breathtaking 100-mile, 360 degree view of The Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina. Big Bald is a wonderful picnic site during the summer and fall seasons and is readily accessible through our private gate.
